Project Brief
The project is the attic of a 100 years old residential building. It was originally a small, compartmentalized, dark space. The project was designed in order to expand the interior space and change its perception by reshaping the existing spaces and increasing the amount of natural light.
The house’s location is right at the foot of the hill Roznik – part of the main green area of the city Ljubljana, Siska. The surrounding area is mainly residential and very quiet.
Two apartments were designed, using the maximum floor plan with minimum communication surface area. By redesigning the staircase, a few square meters of the common area was obtained in order to enable two separate apartment entrances.
Parts of the structure of the existing floors and beams were treated and reinforced to guarantee a good structural performance. Skylights were added in each of the newly formed apartments, creating bright and pleasant spaces.
