In the summer of 2019, whilst the temperatures were the highest, so was our work-ethics. We received a unique opportunity to design an interior for a part of big office space of Slovenia’s largest bank, NLB d.d.
We met the requirements with a surplus of enthusiasm and soon got commissioned for another project, that was then followed by several more.
Looking back we are grateful for the opportunity received and feel enthusiastic about the future collaboration in 2020. Just watch, maybe next time you visit your local branch, you will see our work.
We hope it will brighten your day, or at least make the visit at bank a little nicer; we put special emphasis on the waiting areas!
Santa Claus is coming to town!
In the spirit of giving that Christmas so sincerely brings, we decided to give a little of our time and effort to the littlest of us. We were inspired by our friends with an idea to bring Santa Claus to the Pediatric Hospital in Ljubljana. A couple of hundred of calls later, we got not only an amazing team of Santa and his loyal singing elves from hisazabave.com, but they themselves were inspired to come and enrich the Christmas Eve for the children who were hospitalized pro-bono.
All there was left was to find little presents to put inside a big Santa bag and we were ready to spend the evening with children and the hospital. A truly humbling and gratifying experience.
“We rise by lifting others” -R. Ingersoll
Atelier Abroad (AAB) has been a truly great inspiration for all of us. It brought us closer to our dreams and to our goals. At the end of the year we are inclined, more than ever to feel grateful for all of our success so far and the need to give something back to the community became as obvious as all the Christmas lights.
We decided to donate a piece of our profits to those, whose families will benefit most from a freshly and fully stocked refrigerator.
In collaboration with aninazvezdica.si we gave over 20 families a chance to embark upon the holiday season a little easier, a little happier.
Coming Soon to Gornji Trg
Atelier Abroad (AAB) is proud to announce that we were chosen to do a complete renovation of a restaurant in the city center of the Slovenian capital. On Ljubljana’s most genuinely bourgeois street of Gornji trg, changes are a-coming. Just a little further along the church of Sveti Florijan, where Slovenian most famous architect Jože Plečnik designed a staircase, we are planning to introduce a fresh fusion of Plečnik inspired interior mixed with new-age materialization.
Such an approach will help us ensure that the restaurant will be a truly unique gem on the street. As for the food, for now, let’s just say it simply that you should expect something familiar, yet different from the usual.
Tjaša Plavec workshop tutoring
After last year’s attendance at Pakistan’s architectural workshop held in Islamabad by both Tjaša Plavec and Matic Mohar, they were both asked to visit this year’s edition. Unfortunately due to excessive workload, they were unable to attend, but luckily the era of technology makes way for the new solutions to conventional travel.
Tjaša Plavec was able to be a part of a jury for Archply, where the competition at hand was amongst 50 students of architecture, from 13 Universities across Pakistan, divided into 10 groups of five individuals. Their projects were a matter of solving the current social housing issue in their country by designing a feasible new residential unit.
The workshop was powered by ENZA HOME, in collaboration with Soho House & Co London for co-designing of brief and with a Final Display at Soho House London.
In the spirit of new and exciting changes of growth that we have been experiencing throughout the year of 2019, we are proud to announce that we have just moved to our new office location, to an iconic building Emona, known amongst locals by its brutalist features, colored in intense red color. We are thrilled to work in a new kind of workspace in the midst of all the lively and busy atmosphere that the BTC area has to offer.
